My Monitoring Is Offline
Your app has stopped updating? Quick checks, then how to reconnect Fox ESS, Duracell Energy, Tesla and Growatt systems to Wi-Fi.
If your monitoring app has stopped updating, it's almost always because your inverter has lost its Wi-Fi connection. This usually happens after you get a new router, change broadband provider or change your Wi-Fi password.
Quick checks first
- Is your broadband working? Check your other devices are online, and try restarting your router.
- Has there been a power cut? Inverters and Wi-Fi dongles can take a while to reconnect afterwards. Give it an hour.
- Close the app fully and open it again. If there's an update for it, install it.
- Check you're logged in to the right account.
If none of that helps, reconnect your system using the steps for your make below. Your handover pack shows which make you have.
Before you reconnect
- Have your Wi-Fi name and password ready. Passwords are case-sensitive.
- Most inverters can only use 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, not 5 GHz. Many routers broadcast both, sometimes with similar names. If you're not sure which is which, check your router's settings or ask your broadband provider.
- Stand near the inverter with your phone.
- If the signal near your inverter is weak, a Wi-Fi extender or mesh point nearby can help.
Fox ESS
- Open the FoxCloud app and tap Me in the bottom right.
- Tap WLAN Configuration. The app searches for nearby Fox devices.
- Pick your inverter's Wi-Fi dongle from the list. If it doesn't appear, use the option to scan the QR code on the dongle.
- Some older dongles ask you to join the dongle's own network first. If the app asks, go to your phone's Wi-Fi settings and join the network whose name starts with W and ends with the last digits of the dongle's serial number, then go back to the app.
- Choose your home Wi-Fi, enter the password and tap Next.
- Wait for the confirmation screen, then tap Finish.
It can take a little while for fresh data to appear. There's more detail in Reconnecting your Fox ESS inverter to new Wi-Fi.
Duracell Energy
You reconnect a Duracell Energy system over Bluetooth, using the Dura-i app. This is a different app from the main Duracell Energy app.
- Connect your phone to your home 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, turn on Bluetooth and stand within about 2 metres of the inverter.
- Open the Dura-i app and tap Local Access on the login screen.
- Pick your inverter from the list. Its name starts with BLE.
- Choose End User. If you're asked for a Bluetooth password you don't know, tap the Bluetooth symbol three times quickly to reset it.
- Tap Settings at the bottom right.
- Scroll down to WLAN, enter your Wi-Fi name and password, and press Ok.
- Wait for the countdown. Two green ticks mean it's connected.

Tesla Powerwall
- Stand near your Powerwall or Gateway and make sure your phone's Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are on.
- Open the Tesla app, go to your home energy site and tap Settings.
- If the app shows Device Offline, tap it and follow the steps. Otherwise, look for Configure Wi-Fi or Network Setup.
- If the app asks your phone to join the Gateway's own network (named TEG- followed by some characters), accept.
- Pick your home Wi-Fi, enter the password and tap Connect.
It can take a few minutes to connect, and up to a day for all your data to catch up. If the app asks you to open a cover or press a button on the equipment and you're not comfortable doing so, stop and contact us. There's more detail in Reconnecting your Tesla Powerwall to Wi-Fi.
Growatt
Growatt inverters use a ShineWiFi dongle plugged into the bottom of the inverter. You reconnect it in the ShinePhone app. There's no need to touch the dongle.
- Connect your phone to your home 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, and turn on Bluetooth and Location Services.
- Open the ShinePhone app and log in.
- Go to your plant and open the datalogger list.
- Select your ShineWiFi dongle and tap Configure. If it isn't listed, add it by scanning the QR code on the dongle.
- Choose your home Wi-Fi and enter the password.
- Wait for setup to finish, which can take a few minutes. A flashing blue light on the dongle means it's connected.
