Reconnecting your Fox ESS inverter to new Wi-Fi
Changed your router or Wi-Fi password? How to get your Fox ESS system back online in FoxCloud.
Your Fox ESS inverter talks to the internet through a small Wi-Fi dongle plugged into it. If you get a new router, change broadband provider or change your Wi-Fi password, the dongle loses its connection and the app stops updating. Your solar and battery keep working as normal. Only the monitoring stops.
Before you start
- Your Wi-Fi must be 2.4 GHz. Fox ESS says setup may fail on a 5 GHz network. Many routers broadcast both, often with similar names. If you're not sure, check your router's settings or ask your broadband provider.
- Have your Wi-Fi name and password ready.
- Stand close to the inverter with your phone.
- Make sure you're logged into the FoxCloud app with your own account.
Reconnecting in the FoxCloud app
- Open the app and tap Me.
- Tap WLAN Configuration. The app will look for nearby devices.
- Pick your inverter's dongle from the list and tap Connect Network.
- Choose your home Wi-Fi, type the password carefully and tap Next.
- Wait while it connects, then tap Finish.
It can take a little while for fresh data to appear in the app, so give it some time before checking again.
If it doesn't work
- Double-check the password. It's case-sensitive.
- Make sure you chose the 2.4 GHz network, not the 5 GHz one.
- If your router is far from the inverter, the signal may be too weak. A Wi-Fi extender near the inverter can help.
