What to do if your Fox ESS inverter shows a fault
Safe checks to make if your Fox ESS inverter or app shows an alarm, and what to send us.
Seeing an alarm on your inverter or in the app can be worrying, but many alerts are short-lived and clear on their own. Here's what you can safely check.
Check the app
In the FoxCloud app, tap the alarm icon near the top of your plant screen. You'll see two lists:
| List | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Current | Alarms that are active right now, with a short description |
| History | Older alarms that have already cleared |
If an alarm appears in History but not in Current, it has cleared itself. An occasional one is usually nothing to worry about.
Simple checks
- Has there been a power cut or grid problem? The inverter may show an alarm and then recover once the grid is stable.
- Is it dark or very cloudy? Low or no solar is normal at night.
- Is the app just not updating? That's usually Wi-Fi rather than a fault. See Reconnecting your Fox ESS inverter to new Wi-Fi.
- Wait an hour or so and check again to see if the alarm has cleared.
What to send us
If the alarm keeps coming back or stays in the Current list, please send us:
- A screenshot of the alarm in the app, showing the wording and the date and time.
- A photo of the inverter's screen, if it has one.
- Roughly when it started, and anything that happened around then, such as a power cut or new electrical work.
This helps us diagnose it remotely, and often saves an engineer visit.
